Trowbridge Rugby Football Club
Trowbridge Rugby Football Club (TRFC) was founded in 1931 and had been located at its old Green Lane site since 1963. The club had outgrown its existing premises and the pitches were no longer adequate for the number of games now played and the level that the team were playing at. TRFC required a modern facility that will be the envy of any organisation in the area putting Trowbridge on a par with the leading sides in the west country.
Ashford Construction’s parent company Doric Developments (Bath) Limited acquired the existing sports ground at Green Lane to enable the move for the club. Ashford Construction was contracted to carry out the planning, detailed design, building regulations, M&E package and interior design, working alongside the local sportsturf maintenance contractor, Ecosol Turfcare.
The project was delivered on time and within budget, totalling circa £1,000,000.
Traditional masonry construction method was used with elevations comprising Bradstone traditional Cotswold walling.
The modern clubhouse has two bars, airy spaces, terrace, and impressive changing rooms is now a flexible, multi-function venue. It has a gross footprint of approximately 9,000 sqft and an approximate usable floor area of 9,600 sqft including the function room on the first floor.
Ashford Construction has an ongoing relationship with the club through sponsorship of its first team.
Ashford Construction were commissioned to build a bespoke Clubhouse for us back in 2012. The project was completed on time and to a very high specification. The standard and quality of their work was exemplary, as was the service provided by all tradesmen and ancillary service providers.
